Notes
Philosophers' conceptions of human nature constitute a popular field of study, especially for Western thinkers. However, it seems that the Muqaddimah has not been thoroughly researched in terms of the understanding of human nature it contains. However, in terms of understanding the facts and events of historical-social life presented by the Muqaddimah, the understanding of the soul, which plays a central role in the tradition of Islamic sciences and philosophy from which the philosopher inherited, has a special place. The claim of this article is that the break created by Ibn Khaldun in the ilm al-nafs paradigm is a basis for the scientific theory of history and society proposed in the Muqaddimah. In this context, in the article, first of all, soul, disposition, etc., which point to human nature, are discussed. While the references to the concepts in the Muqaddimah will be mentioned, these references will be evaluated in terms of Ibn Khaldun's basic theses. Thus, the contentless nature of human nature will be revealed in Ibn Khaldun's philosophical system.
