Notes Considered worthy of being the first philosopher of Islamic Philosophy, Kindi's attitude towards Greek philosophy appears completely sympathetic. Kindi's philosophy, which remembers the ancients with gratitude for what they contributed to thought, bears the traces of Plato, Aristotle and Neoplatonist philosophy. In this article, al-Kindi's approach to the Ancient Greek philosophical tradition is discussed, based on his works titled On First Philosophy, On Reason and On the Self. His own philosophical attitude towards these ideas is also partially expressed.
