Hadith studies is one of the most useful and widespread Islamic sciences. Those who study hadiths and its history and methodology get to know the Islamic culture more deeply, and learn the religious and shari'i issues correctly through this science. One of the most important benefits of the mentioned science is to get to know the Holy Quran more deeply. It is well known from the history of Islam that the Prophet (pbuh), followed by his Ahl al-Bayt (pbuh) and his loyal companions, explained to Muslims the deep matters and mutashabeh (difficult to understand) meanings in the Holy Book revealed by God Almighty in a very simple but scientific way. In this regard, the Holy Qur'an declares: "And We have sent down the Qur'an to you so that you may explain to the people what has been sent to them (judgments, halal and haram) and maybe they will think and understand!" he said (Holy Qur'an 1991, "an-Nahl" surah, verse 44). Thus, the article consists of two parts. In the first part, readers were told about the importance of hadith in religion. That is why Islamic scholars have turned to hadith and sunnah as the second source after the Qur'an in solving religious issues. In this case, of course, it is necessary to determine the truth (authenticity) of the existing hadith. The second part of the article is about the sections of hadith science. Here, along with the sciences covered by hadith studies, the history of their creation and development, the most famous works written in the field of those sciences are introduced.
