Notes	Yahya Hakkı, one of Egypt's important literary figures, was born in a modest house in Cairo in 1905, as the son of a Turkish father and an Albanian mother, and died in Cairo in 1992. After graduating from Cairo University, Faculty of Law (1925), he served as a diplomat in various countries. In this context, he served at the Egyptian embassy in Istanbul between 1930-1934 and in Ankara between 1951-1952. During his time in Istanbul, he learned Turkish at a level that allowed him to translate from the press and follow the press. During his time in Turkey, he visited many cities and villages and gained impressions about these places. His work, Zikreyât Matviyye (hidden memories), did not come to light for many years, but was finally published in 1993, a year after his death, with the efforts of his daughter Neha Yahya Hakkı. He recorded the cultural, artistic, social, political, economic and military impressions he acquired during his stay in Turkey in his selis style. What they present to the reader is not just a narrative, but also writings that pass through the sieve of observation and analysis.
