Notes
Sociotherapy was developed in the 20th century as a field that provides the therapeutic use of sociology. Essentially, with the awareness that the "social" is at the root of the problems experienced, sociotherapy carries the field of solution and treatment to the social dimension. In the use of this type of therapy, the patient or the person receiving therapy plays an active role as well as the therapist. It is aimed to achieve gradual treatment by voicing the problems within the framework of mutual dialogue and communication. The synergy created by giving the individual a sense of trust and mutual understanding and empathy within group therapy is the main source of the healing process. With sociotherapy, a therapeutic discipline emerged from sociology, just as psychotherapy originated from the science of psychology. The foundations of this discipline can be found in clinical sociology.
