Notes
Performing the five daily obligatory prayers in congregation is one of the issues emphasized in the hadiths. When we look at the hadiths on this subject, one of the most important points that attracts attention is the expressions in various styles and contents regarding the virtue of prayer performed in congregation. Hz. In many of his hadiths, the Prophet (pbuh) encouraged Muslims to pray in congregation, stating that prayer performed in congregation is more virtuous than prayer performed alone. While some hadiths mentioned on this subject use general expressions about virtue, some hadiths include numerical values as the degree of virtue. In the hadiths where numerical values are mentioned, different degrees are mentioned as "twenty-odd", "twenty-four", "twenty-four or twenty-five", "twenty-five", "twenty-seven" and "twenty-seven or twenty-five". In fact, in one hadith, "fifty" degrees are mentioned for congregational prayer in the countryside. Naturally, this situation has led to the thought that there is an apparent contradiction between the hadiths. In this article, we tried to reveal both the authenticity of the hadiths and what is meant in the hadiths by discussing the document and text evaluations of the hadiths on this subject.
