The first intellectual interactions between Ash'arites and Maturidis, V./XI. It started in the 19th century and followed a course of ups and downs in the following period. While it was initially a struggle between two intellectually equivalent theological schools, the intellectual expansion that Ash'ariism underwent as a result of its relationship with philosophy rendered the Maturidism's discourse insisting on theology dysfunctional. That's why Maturidism could not stand out sufficiently against the philosophical theology, which became a rising value during the reign of Fatih. However, in the following period, Asharism's connection with philosophy gradually began to break, and this brought it back to theological ground. At this point, Asharism and Maturidiism became interlocutors again. In parallel with this, in the Ottomans in the X./XVI. It started in the 16th century, but reached its highest form of expression perhaps in the 12th/18th century. An emphasis on Maturidism that reached the 19th century began to come to the fore. When we look at the many texts that deal with the theological differences between the two sects, it is seen that this means more than the mutual effort of the members of the two sects to understand each other and that Maturidism is highlighted as an Ottoman identity. In this article, the emphasis on Maturidiism in the Ottoman Empire, which was initially obscured by the philosophical Ashariism, but was brought to the fore in the later period, and the political and intellectual elements that nourish it will be analyzed.
