Notes MIGRATION IN TABERÎ COMMENTARY Mustafa SOYCANÖZUludağ University Social Sciences Institute PhD Student The migration of the Prophet from Mecca to Medina was the beginning of a new era in the history of Islam and the world. This historical event was included in both the Holy Quran and the Sirah works for their purposes. Classical works narrated the Hijra in a more chronological manner, focusing on how rather than why. The Holy Quran directly or indirectly mentions the migration of the Prophet Muhammad in different surahs and verses in a unique style. The Quran outlines the developments before the migration, the reasons for the migration, the attitude of Muslims and their relatives towards the command of migration, the reaction of the Meccan polytheists, the basic qualities and virtues of Muslims who fulfilled the command of migration, and the sacrifice of the Ansar against the immigrants. Since these verses are not systematically included in the Quran due to its content, the verses on the subject and the comments of the commentators of the first three centuries about these verses in Tabari's work titled "Câmi'u'l-Beyân 'anTe'vîli Âyi'l-Kur'an", which we can call the pinnacle of the early period tafsir studies in order to determine the unity of the subject of the verses. and clarifying the meaning of the verses related to the migration by revealing Tabari's preferences and comments about these comments can make important contributions to the writing of the sīra.Key Words: Quran, Tafsir, Siyar, Hijra, Taberī.TheHijra in the tafsir of TaberiABSTRACT The Hijra (migration) of Prophet Muhammadfrom Mecca to Madina has been the beginning of a new era in the history of Islam and the world. Both the Qur'an and the boks of Siyar have given place to this historical event in terms of their purposes. Classical Siyar boks conveyed hijra rather chronologically, focusing on how it happened instead of why or what for. The Qur'an to the migration of Prophet has given place to the migration of Prophet Muhammad with a distinctive wording in different suras and verses directly or indirectly. The outline of the incidents beforehijra, the reasons that led to itand the attitude of Muslims and their relatives for it are found in the Qur'an; also the reaction of Meccan nonbelievers toit, teh main characteristics and the virtues oh-f Muslims who fulfilled the migration decree and the devotion of al-Ansar for migrants from Mecca. In terms of content, because these verses cannot be found systematically in the Qur'an, in order the determinate these verses in subject integrtiy Taberi's book of "Cami'u'l Beyan 'an Te'viliAyi'l-Kur'an" can be considered as apeak. By putting forward the verses about hijraand the interpretations of the these verses by mufassirs (commentator)of the three centuries and Taberi's preference and exegesis about these interpretations in his book, clarification of the meanings of these verses about hijra can contribute to writing of Siyar.Key words: Qur'an, Tafsir, Siyar (prophetic),Hijra, Taberî
