Hymnody; They are man-made poems written to be composed, full of praise to God. Hymns, shaped at the intersection of literature, music and religion, contain features from all three areas. The purpose of hymns, which have stylistic features such as metaphor, exaggeration and personalization, as well as formal features such as rhyme and syllable meter, are to enrich worship, to elevate believers morally, to educate them about religious elements, and to provide information about the liturgical day. In this study, hymn reading traditions in the West and Turkey were examined comparatively by giving examples of hymns sung in daily and weekly prayers in the Catholic sect. As a result, it has been determined that daily and weekly prayers are performed in the same way in both the West and Turkey, and hymns are used in the same way and for the same purpose during worship. Other findings include that hymns in the West are chronologically older, numerically more numerous and deeper in content.
