Notes The relationship between the ideology of nationalism and gender has been an issue that has not been emphasized for many years. Recently, the fact that nationalist projects and practices have treated men and women differently has brought to the agenda the study of gender studies together with the ideology of nationalism. Ignoring women in these projects and practices has led to a new topic of discussion in the field of women's studies. Policies aimed at instrumentalizing women, especially in national identity building processes, are considered as concrete examples of nationalism. The position of women in the private and public spheres is subject to change and transformation in nationalist policies. Especially during periods of national struggle and war, the female body is sanctified as homeland, honor, and piece of land, while at the same time, it is positioned in a special area within the family with the role of motherhood. The aim of this study is to discuss the relationship between gender and nationalism within the framework of feminist literature and to discuss how the concept of gender is used in nationalism discourses and the process of national identity construction and how the positions of femininity change.
