In this article, it is aimed to reveal the concept of dignity, one of the important issues of Islamic ethics, generally on the scale of hadiths. The absence of any study on this subject became the motivation and main reference of the article. According to the Holy Quran and hadiths, dignity constitutes one of the moral qualities that a Muslim should have. When we look at the verses and hadiths on the subject, it is understood that dignity is a virtue that ensures moderation in attitudes and behaviors in general. This issue expresses the role of dignity in Islamic identity. Therefore, it was deemed necessary to consider the concept of dignity in terms of its nature and content, and this article was written. The article focuses on the place and importance of the concept of dignity, which is expressed as dignity in Turkish, in the Islamic moral system and in the character formation of Muslims. In the study, first of all, the conceptual content of dignity is stated in the context of verses and hadiths. Then, within the framework of the hadiths, the main behavioral models related to dignity were discussed in detail. As a result, the role of dignity in building and protecting a respected Muslim personality has been revealed.
