Notes
In history, we have various information from various sources about the capture of Mardin and its surroundings by the Mongols. One of these sources is the 1800-couplet poetic work called Şehinşahname, also known as Cengizname, written in Persian by Ahmed Tebrizî in the 14th century. In the work, important events of the Ilkhanid period until 1337 are described. In the work, the Mongol/Ilkhanid attacks of Mardin and Nusaybin regions are also depicted in detail. Especially the experiences with Hulagu, the wars and treaties, and the relations with the Ilkhanids during the reign of Mardin Artuqid Sultan Melik Said and his son Muzafferüddin are presented in detail in the work. In this study; The introduction of the work, the wars, sieges and treaties between the Ilkhanids and Mardin Artuqid Meliks, the capture of Mardin Castle by the Ilkhanids will be discussed and evaluated, and Persian couplets related to the subject will be translated and conveyed.
