This article is a contribution to studies on taking cultural context into account in the evaluation of religious texts. In the study, a narration telling that a Jewish community metamorphosed into mice in ancient times is discussed and evaluated from the perspective of both classical hadith literature and the cultural/environmental codes of the early period. In this context, attention is drawn to the place of the phenomenon of metamorphosis, as a universal form of belief and imagination, in Islamic thought and the cultural atmosphere surrounding the relevant narrative is depicted. In addition, criticisms and comments regarding the narration, which has an interesting and strange content, are touched upon. As a result, the pro and con approaches and discourses on the subject suggest that there is a dialogue problem with the hadith literature. Based on this, the article proposes to revise the perspective on hadith and hadith literature, especially Hz. It proposes that the narrations, which are not within the scope of the prophetic duty of the Prophet and reflect socio-cultural beliefs and acceptances, be read with a broader and holistic perspective and as an original part of the ancient history of humanity.
