Notes
During the construction processes of nation-states, political land borders became the symbol of power and the areas where it was established, as well as the concrete forms of the borders of the imagined nation. Political land borders have given rise to countless stories of rupture, separation, loss, border crossings, smuggling, conviction, longing and death in the daily lives of border people. Border and border region studies, which started to emerge in Turkey especially in the 2000s, generally focused on issues such as border determination agreements made during the establishment of the Republic, economy, trade, management/administration and security. This study emphasizes the urgent need for comprehensive anthropological research in this neglected field of research and points out how these studies can help us understand different dimensions of the issue. Keywords: Political land borders, border studies, Turkey's borders, history, society and memory.
