In this article, the reflections of Ibn Hanbel's attitude towards the mutual relationship of the Islamic society and its ruler in Musnad are discussed. The hadiths discussed were selected from among the hadiths in Musnad in which these words were mentioned, by scanning words such as "Imam", "Caliph", "Emir" and "Sultan" in Wensinck's works Concordance and A Handbook. A simple scan showed that 34 of the 64 hadiths containing these terms in the twenty hadith compilations accepted as authority are in Musnad. The average number of hadiths of similar types in other hadith corpus is 15, and this distinguishes Musnad from others.
