Notes
In the history of Islamic thought, philosophers objected to disclosing some truth information, both philosophical and religious, to the public with a low level of knowledge and culture. That's why they resorted to various methods to understand these truths at their level. Chief among these are symbolic works, stories told with representative expressions, and philosophical novels.1 Philosophers, who declare that people are divided into various categories in the understanding of religious and philosophical truths, divide people into two as the public and the intellectuals (commoners and elites) according to their general opinions. According to them, there are various reasons for making this distinction. First of all, people's scientific and cultural levels, intelligence and abilities reveal that they are not at equal levels in understanding such truths. Philosophers, who stated that the Holy Quran included symbolic expression at a level that people could understand in explaining some metaphysical truths, acted with the same method to understand the works they wrote for the public, which contained philosophical truths.
