Notes
Kindi bases religious thought on the concept of creation from nothing and tries to place this understanding on a solid philosophical basis in line with Aristotelian and Neoplatonist principles. Kindi sees the fact that God created the universe in a time when there was nothing before, not only as an object of faith, but also as the most reasonable explanation of the god-universe relationship. Kindi develops two types of arguments that interconnect with each other to ground this view philosophically. The first of these is that it proves that the universe is a finite thing in terms of being a body, and therefore there must be a starting point in time. The second one, which is based on the analysis of the concept of the eternal and is the subject of this article, is the proof of the necessity of the existence of a single eternal being as the Real One and the Real Agent.
