Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam, was made obligatory after the migration. Although zakat was among the most important incomes of Baytulmal for many years, it ceased to be a state authority during the reign of Ömer bin Abdulaziz. In recent years, it has been observed that some states with a Muslim majority have taken important initiatives to manage zakat by the state. Malaysia, a Southeast Asian country, attracts attention with a new zakat system that it started to implement especially after 1990. This study deals with the Malaysian zakat system in the context of state management of zakat. The aim of the study is to comprehensively examine the Malaysian zakat system. In the article, document scanning method was used. The history of the zakat system in Malaysia, which zakat models are applied today and to which areas the zakat is distributed have been researched. In this context, many international studies directly related to the subject were examined, and twenty-five Malay websites of institutions collecting and distributing zakat were scanned. Malaysian zakat system; It has been determined that it consists of three elements: public model, semi-public model and private model.
