The 4th century Hijri was a rich period in terms of the abundance of commentary works and commentators. One of the commentators who lived in this period and wrote commentary works is Ebû Süleyman es-Sa'dî ed-Dımaşkî. Although Abu Suleiman was known by scholars in his time, personally participated in debates, and influenced later commentators, he could only keep his name alive between the lines of his works - especially in the field of tafsir. There are many obvious and unclear reasons for this, such as "none of his students are mentioned in the sources and he was subjected to criticism, especially in the fields of belief and hadith." It is obvious that knowing Abu Suleiman's views on tafsir and Quran sciences is an important issue in terms of reflecting the understanding of tafsir of the period in which he lived, revealing the changes that occurred in the tafsir method over time and Abu Suleiman's contributions to the science of tafsir. For this purpose, in this article, the life of Abu Suleiman was first examined. Then, the exegesis method he followed was tried to be revealed with examples and his views on the Qur'anic sciences were tried to be determined.
