Notes It is the first of the six books on hadith. Among its conditions is that the agreed upon hadith be narrated by a trustworthy person who transmitted it to the famous companion, without disagreement among the trustworthy ones, and its chain of transmission must be continuous and not interrupted. If the companion had two narrators or more, then it is good, and if he had only one narrator, if the path to that narrator is correct, then narrate it. An exquisite, extremely beautiful copy. It contained the entire text in one volume, and was issued with two gilded pages, with a regular geometric division of the book’s plan, and its floor was covered with azure blue, and each enclosed part included the name of the chapter and the number of the page. The beginning of the book is filled with shapes, colors, and calligraphy beyond description. At the end of it, within a decorative frame and in golden script: “The end of the Sahih, narrated by Abu Dharr al-Harawi, written by Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad al-Helu, on Rabi’ al-Thani 13, 1213 AH, 1798 AD.” The binding is contemporary with the copy, and is a mixture of Moroccan, Andalusian, and Ottoman artistic influences. It was bought by Hussein Khoja, Bash Mamluk Hussein Pasha Bey in the year 1236 AH 1820 AD.
