Notes
It was drawn up at the request of the Prince of Princes, Sayyed Rashid, head of the coastal forces, in the year 1274 AH/1857 AD. It includes detailed maps of the cities and villages connected to Sfax, Djerba, and Kerkennah, in which the sea coast and its slopes are drawn in blue, and the urban blocs are drawn according to their distribution in pink, and numbers are attached to each other to be referred to on the page opposite each map on the written data that usually begins with a mention of the Khutba Mosque, and the mosques. And the shrines of the saints, and the corners, and the domes, and the mention of the “homes” of the living, and the number of houses in them, and the boundaries of urbanization, such as marshes, forests, or roads. This only copy is missing a map of the city of Sfax, at the end of which is the trace of General Rashid’s ownership line, in his hand. (This copy was presented in the manuscript exhibition)
