Notes
Annotations: Very sporadic marginal annotations, generally to add an explanation of the root of the word in question or to correct its translation into Latin or Spanish. On the cover in brown ink the following text is recorded: “the first 30 pages are missing, it consisted of 280.” On the spine, along with the title in brown ink (“Thesauso Arabicae”), there are two labels attached, one containing the digit 3 and the other the old signature (Box C-21). The same signature in pencil appears on the inside of the cover above some crossed out numbers. The labels for each letter are always preceded by “Lra.” as an abbreviation of “letter”. Old seal of the University Library of Granada on some pages of the volume, in addition to the signature of the author of the volume at the end of some notebooks., Arabic Maghreb writing, Special features: Partially vocalized text, Catalog of the Exhibition held on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary: 1932-1982 16, Catalog of the Arabic manuscripts preserved at the University of Granada p. 10-11, Colophon: Not stated, Content: Thesauro Arabicae (Note: the work contains two well-differentiated vocabularies, which are: 1st) Arabic-Spanish vocabulary, which covers pages 1 to 86v and 2nd) Arabic-Latin vocabulary, which covers pages 87r-268v.), Copyist: Not stated, Description: Almagro Cárdenas, A., Catalog of the Arabic manuscripts kept at the University of Granada, Granada, 1899, 10-11; Cabanelas, D., “Unpublished Arabic-Spanish and Arabic-Latin vocabulary”, in Miscellany of Arab and Hebrew Studies, XXVII-XXVIII, fasc. 1st (1978-79), 209-214; Catalog of the Exhibition held on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary: 1932-1982, Granada, 1982, 16; Castillo Castillo, C., “Arabic manuscripts preserved in the School of Arab Studies of Granada”, Cuadernos de historia del Islam 11 (1984), 217; Arabic manuscripts and ancient collection of the School of Arab Studies, Granada, 2007, 45; The legacy of words: Arabic and Hebrew manuscripts in the CSIC collections. Shortening the parchment of the binding. The notebooks have come loose from the binding and some have come unstitched. There are stains and ink degradations that do not affect the text., Distribution: 2 col. Most of the volume is 22 or 23 lines per page. Others vary greatly in number., Edition: No, Explicit: تَشَقََقَ rasgar scindere, Filigree: Shield whose interior houses three crosses joined by a horizontal line at the bottom Heart-shaped shield with a cross inside and three others that finish it at the top, while at the bottom the letters “GBD” are read in capital letters. Three circles arranged one on top of the other, the first one empty, the one in the center contains the letter “D” in capital letters, and the third the letters “BG” also in capital letters. The three circumferences are finished off at the top by a cross. The digit 10., Foliation: It has two foliations: one original in brown ink and the other modern in pencil, both following the Latin reading orientation. The original foliation includes from folio 1 to 78 plus two folios that have: one the digit 100 and which corresponds to 79 foliated in pencil, and another the digit 200 and which corresponds to 184 foliated in pencil. Probably originally the first 100 pages were numbered and then the 100th page of each hundred would be numbered. The modern foliation whose author is unknown, covers from folio 79 to 268., H damaged, mutilated, loose: 1 H loose: folio 268, H blank: 19 blank folios plus the 16 folio verso following the Latin reading orientation., H missing or added: H Missing: According to the annotation on the cover: “the first 30 pages are missing, it consisted of 280”; If we look at this annotation, the manuscript should have 250 pages, however, we see that the volume currently consists of 268 pages, which, this annotation, is either not correct or 18 pages were later added to the volume. However, the original foliation of the manuscript must be taken into account to approximately calculate how many pages are missing. In this way we see that there is a jump in foliation between 78 and 100, this means that 11 pages are missing (from 79 to 99) of the first hundred; while, between folios 100 and 200 of the second hundred there are 105 folios instead of 100; and finally, we see that from folio 200 to the last there are 84 folios. With these calculations two conclusions are reached. The first, that the volume had at least 289 pages, of which 11 numbered from the first hundred would have been lost and some from the second hundred would belong to the third hundred because they were probably bound poorly; hence the explanation why no alphabetical order is followed. The second, that the manuscript had more than 289 folios., Illustrations: In some numbers the lines of each folio are numbered, Illustration: No, Incipit: أَبتَالَوُّ conformal, Latin Courtly writing, Place of writing: Not stated, Arabic manuscripts preserved in the School of Arabic Studies of Granada p. 217, Arabic manuscripts and ancient collection of the School of Arab Studies p. 45, Material: Paper, Other supports: No, Ruled: No ruled.
