| Notes | The marble capital from the 5th century is an example of the impost form, which was frequently encountered in early Byzantine architecture and allowed the load to be transferred from the quadrangular surface to the cylindrical columns due to its circular lower surfaces. There are two bowl-shaped leaves in a symmetrical arrangement and an arrow motif in the middle in the pulvinus section of the cap, which has no decoration on the impost surface. --- This marble capital from the 5th century is an example of the impost form, which was common in early Byzantine architecture and allowed the load to be transferred from the rectangular section to the cylindrical columns due to its circular lower surfaces.
