Sample Text f.2v.1: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, and in Him we seek help. There is no aggression except against the wrongdoers. f.2v.2: And after this, this is a blessed lottery, God Almighty willing, attributed to our Lord and Master Imam Jaafar bin Muhammad Al-Baqir, may God Almighty be pleased with him. It was with his sons, may God Almighty have mercy on him, and was passed down among them until the judgment of God Almighty on His Majesty’s authority on Imam Ali bin Musa Al-Ridha, may God be pleased with them, carried out what had happened, and Al-Mamoun carried out the arrest of his treasuries and the money houses and searched them, and he found among them some of his treasuries. A scroll of crystal covered with gold and silver, sealed and locked. He brought it to me in the hands of al-Mamoun. He opened it and found in it a wrapped silk, and in it were papers written on which was this lot. I made it twenty chapters, and it is the most correct, the best, and the most truthful of the lot, and I called it the Jafriyah lot - f.3r.2: He returns to the circle and counts from the door in which his need is according to the amount of what came out in the battle from the surah to which the number reached, then He searches it in the tables and counts from the first line of it until he reaches the end of the number, and he looks at the other line of the number for what is in it of good news or warning, for it is the true omen, and God is the one who seeks help, and upon Him should one rely, and this is the circle, and God knows best what is right, and to Him is the return and the destination.
