Notes "'Sah-ten' is the Arabic equivalent to 'bon appetit'. It roughly translates to 'two healths', and is often said in Palestine when food is placed on the table. The book is a portrait of the skateboarding scene in Palestine told through food. Featuring recipes from various people in Palestine's skateboarding community, shop owners, local heroes, volunteers and friends including Hiba Express and internationally-renowned chef and co-author of 'Falastin', Sami Tamimi. Each dish is illustrated as part of a collaboration between Palestinian-Canadian skater Noor Abouseido and some of the young skaters from our skate sessions in Palestine. Alongside the recipes you'll find interviews with local skaters, a piece on the significance of the olive and its annual harvest, a yoga sequence to help ease any skate-related aches and pains, and a how-to guide for upcycling an old skateboard into a chopping board -- all peppered with photography collected over the years."--Publisher's description. | Cover title; statement of responsibility from colophon. | SkatePal is a non-profit organisation supporting communities throughout Palestine, promoting the social, health and wellbeing benefits of skateboarding to enhance the lives of local youth. | The Palestinian pantry -- Stars & bucks -- Qahwa Arabia / by Al Amad & Sons -- Shakshuka / by Abu Ali Sawalma -- Ful medamas / by Tessa Fox -- Fennel & radish salad / by Josh Sutton -- Hummus / by Moath Qashod -- Falafel / by Abood Barhan -- Q&A / Wala Qamhieh & Aram Sabbah -- How to make a DIY chopping board -- Hemp seed tabbloula / by Izzeldin Bukhari -- Warming up / by Majdal Sobah -- Aubergine stew / by What the Fattoush -- Malfout / by Aram & Sorida Sabbah -- Fattet Makdous / by Sami Tamimi -- The olive harvest -- Mussakhan / by Yasmeen & Suha Foqha -- Mansaf / by Diana Musa -- Maqlubah / by Malak Battatt -- Kanafeh / by Tayseer Hamadneh -- Q&A / with Ryan Lay -- Thanks. | Chiefly in English with some Arabic text.
