f.1v.1: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
f.1v.5: Praise be to God, the King, the ancient judge, benevolent and generous
f.1v.10: As for what follows, since the knowledge of Arabic is one of the most useful sciences, it is the key to the sciences and the lamp of understanding, as it was narrated on the authority of the Imam of Dar al-Hijrah Malik bin Anas, may God be pleased with him, and since the introduction by Sheikh Imam al-Ustad al-Nahri, Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Dawud al-Sanhaji, known as Ibn Ajrum, may God Almighty have mercy on him and be pleased with him, contains important chapters on Arabic, and among those who worked on it was Ali the poor boy, the happy and successful son. Al-Rashid Shihab al-Din Ahmad I saw that I dictated to him an explanation of its words that solves its words, opens its closed ones, explains its meaning, and names it. The footnotes are based on the words presented - f.94r.17: Example of Qurra Ibn Aamir. What we have mentioned in this introduction is for the sake of brevity, and we ask God Almighty to benefit from it as it benefited the original. He is capable of doing what He wills, and His servants are Kind and All-Knowing. — f.94v.2 Praise be to God who has guided us to this, and we would not have been guided had God not guided us to the straight path and made us among those upon whom You have bestowed grace, neither of those with wrath nor those who have gone astray. Amen. And forgive us, our parents, our sheikhs, and all Muslim men and women, and believing men and believing women. You are near, answering prayers, and make what we are in sincere for your honorable face. Amen.
f.94v.15 He accomplished it with his mortal hand, Ali Muhammad Al-Nafrawi Al-Maliki, on the blessed Thursday, the last month of Jumada Al-Thani, in the year one thousand one hundred and seventy-one, it was concluded well, and God knows best.
