Sample Text f.1v.6: As for what follows, this is what the need for students of arithmetic who wish to realize the meanings of the book called Nuzhat al-Nazar fi the Indian Pen and Dust, written by the scholar and scholar Abi al-Abbas Shihab al-Din Ahmad ibn al-Haym, from a sufficient explanation with a satisfactory explanation, said, may God have mercy on him. The conclusion fell on the cover with optimism, for the amount limited to the art of dust in this summary is the one whose ignorance cannot reach the end of the attainer of that art, that is, the student of this art must acquire it, and whoever wants to add to that, his original, which is called the guide to the work, is sufficient for him. And whoever seeks to explore, i.e., expand in dealing with the unknown with proportional numbers, then he must help, that is, with the book called aid, written in amateur arithmetic, the composition of the work, which surpasses all the books of this art, by God. May God bless him with His blessings and generosity. This is the last thing from God Almighty, with his commentary on the book called Nuzhat al-Nazar fi Fann al-Dhubar. May God make it pure for His honorable face, and reward its author, writer, and observer of it with reward in the gardens of bliss. He is capable of what He wills, and worthy of an answer. May God’s prayers and peace be upon our master Muhammad, his family, and all his companions, and peace be upon the messengers. Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. It has been fulfilled.
