This book is about a branch of the Qadiriyah Sufi order in the Indian subcontinent, known as Qadiriyah Hasaniyah. Among its spiritual leaders (mashayikh) was Hadrat Sayyid ʿAbdullah Shah Sahabi Qadiri Gilani Thattavi, a prominent name among the renowned Sufis of Sindh. His shrine is in the historic Makli Cemetery in Sindh and he is widely known throughout Sindh as "Sahabi Baba." However, authentic accounts of his life were not available. Various individuals wrote incomplete and unverified details about him without proper research. Therefore, Sayyid Muhammad Amir Shah Qadiri Gilani Peshawari, his spiritual successor and sajjada nashin, gathered facts from manuscripts (maqtu'at) available within his family, particularly from the writings of the hadith scholar Hadrat Sayyid Shah Muhammad Ghawth Qadiri Gilani Peshawari thumma Lahori (whose shrine is in Lahore near Delhi Gate), who was the grandson of Sayyid ʿAbdullah Shah Sahabi. During the Partition of 1947, Sayyid Muhammad Amir Shah was in Kashmir (Srinagar). He also traveled to Muzaffarabad, Kashmir, Haripur, Hazara, Thatta, Jhelum, Punjab, and other places, gathering information with the help of his elders, family members, and knowledgeable people. After extensive research over a long period, this book was finally completed. It contains a detailed and thoroughly researched account of Sayyid ʿAbdullah Shah Sahabi and all the spiritual leaders of this order after him, as well as their noble descendants. Therefore, this book serves as a sourcebook for both the spiritual lineage (shajarat al-tariqah) and genealogical lineage (shajarat al-nasab) of the order.
