Notes
This introduction to Marghinani's al-Hidayah fi Sharh al-Bidayah, a commentary written by Mawlawi Wali Muhammad Khujandi Qandahari, discusses various contentious issues among the Ahl al-Sunnah wa-al-Jamaʿah (the people of the Sunnah and the community). For example, the existing narrations concerning the affirmation of the faith (iman) of Abi Talib are discussed. The narrations of Bukhari Sharif and other hadiths related to the disbelief (kufr) of Abi Talib are also mentioned, including the views of those scholars who have chosen to remain silent (sukut) on this issue. Similarly, narrations concerning the date of the passing of the Prophet are also presented. Furthermore, fabricated objections by the Ghayr-Muqallidin are addressed. There is also a brief mention of the names of the narrators (asmaʾ al-rijal) found in al-Hidayah. Following the introduction, the text of al-Hidayah is provided. | Digitization for the Sufi Shrine Libraries of the Afghan-Pakistan Frontier collection was sponsored by the Modern Endangered Archives Program with funding from Arcadia. | public domain
