Notes This research deals with an example of the construction documents for one of the remaining Ottoman residential houses in the city of Cairo, which is the document establishing the house of Khawaja Mustafa Jaafar Al-Kabir, dated 1151 AH (1738 AD). This house is currently located to the left of the interior of the Yellow Path, seeking Al-Jamaliyya. This research will present, within the framework of publishing the text of the document, the location of Mustafa Jaafar’s house in the past, and the original picture that the house was on, and then the research will move on to determining the name of the original builder. This research also corrects some of the opinions that were included in the content of previous studies, and reveals the importance of documents in studying the history of residential building architecture. On the other hand, this research presents the original image that Mustafa Jaafar’s house had before it was renovated and rebuilt, in light of the construction document that is the subject of the research. This matter is important in revealing the errors in the architectural description included in previous studies of the house, and the confusion that occurred in understanding the text of the endowment argument dated in 1171 AH (1757 AD), which was published as part of one of the studies that dealt with the reimagining of this house, but it was not possible to reach the original form that the house had before it was rebuilt, and this is what the researcher observed in light of the construction document in question.
