Notes {AR}This paper studies and analyzes the administrative institutions in regional cities and major villages, explaining their role and architectural planning. The study focuses on one of the institutions of the Egyptian countryside, an administrative unit that was called “Dar El Shad.” Through archival documents, the paper attempts to trace this institution and the roles it played, its functions and its connection to agricultural land, and to explain its architectural units through what the texts of documents have made available to us in the Ottoman era. It also attempts to identify the layout of this institution through its architectural conception based on what was reported about it in the texts of various documents. Then, it publishes four previously unpublished documents explaining details about the definition of Al-Shad, then defining Dar Al-Shad functionally and architecturally, in addition to a fifth document about the Princes’ Terrace in Mansoura, as was done. Republishing lines from previously published documents, we deemed it necessary to include them because they contain important details about the subject, serve the idea of the research, and confirm its direction. {EN}This Paper aims to study and analyze the administrative institutions in the regional towns and big villages in the Egyptian rural society in the Ottoman period. The study will focus on an administrative unit was called dar elshad and trace its multiple roles in the agricultural lands affairs, based on the archival materials have been consulted. On the other hand, there will be a detailed plan and architectural description of this unit, and a sketch in which we reconstruct dar elshad as mentioned in the sharia court documents. To have more focus, I will edit and publish four new documents describing the function of dar elshad and its architectural details, Also there will be Fifth Document about The dignitaries mastaba. Furthermore, I will republish part of other documents that have been published in other studies, and I found it as so important for the current study; which will explain much more and confirm the paper objectives
