Notes
The poet Fouad Al-Khatib (d. 1376 AH - 1957 AD) is considered a pioneer of modern Arabic poetry, and a prominent figure in Arabic literature. He participated with his literature in the most prominent events that took place during the years of his life. He lived under different political conditions. He lived through the Ottoman era, lived through the events of the Arab Revolt, worked with the nobles who ruled the Hijaz, Syria and Jordan, and ended his life as an ambassador for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kabul. His poetry is at its peak, strong in style, full of emotion, rich in composition, and clear in its preface. He immortalized many of the events of his time in his poetry. He published his first collection of poems during his lifetime in the year (1328 AH - 1910 AD) - then his son Riyad reprinted his first and second collections in the year (1378 AH 1959 AD). He is full of poems by the great poets of his generation, and his collection was devoid of some poems, which I found during my research in old newspapers, magazines, and some books. There were twelve poems and ten pieces. I also mentioned four poems that were mentioned in the collection, but I found them in different narrations. One of the most important of these poems is his poem in eulogy for the former king of Hijaz, Hussein bin Ali, which the poet considered his best poetry, and it reached seventy-two lines.
