Notes The issues of sources of income for the Ottoman Empire occupy an important place among the economic aspects that bring great benefit to its treasury. From this comes the importance of studying them because they inform us of the nature and sources of its wealth. How to dispose of it, the transfer of ownership from one social group to another, and the documents of the Sharia courts in Damascus are among the most important sources for addressing these aspects that described the relationship between representatives of the Ottoman authority and sources of income. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the Ottoman authority faced many failures that led to the awakening of the desire in Europe to take advantage of these conditions to revive its hopes for revenge against the Turks. These difficulties affected the economic and social situation of the Ottoman state, as the military expenditures for its wars led to financial and tax consequences that fell on the shoulders of craftsmen and small merchants from the states and on the residents of all cities, and more so on the peasants. Thus, economic problems intertwined with social problems within the Ottoman states. /
