This study reveals the contents of a rare document of its kind, the subject of which relates to the rental of a family endowment (atomic), which is the residence of the Venetian consul in the city of Cairo, which is owned by the Al-Qarafi family, and the tenant’s investment of the proceeds of the housing endowment on the interests of a charitable endowment, which relates to the poor of the St. Mary Francis Monastery in the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif. The document included a detailed description of the residence to be rented and all the arguments related to it from previous rents. It also presented the debates that took place between the contracting parties during the agreement regarding the payment of the rent, its amount, and the time of its due date. Through it, it became clear that official transactions and contracts were recorded in the minutes of the judge, and that they required a high degree of care and accuracy in writing them and verifying what was contained in them. It also helps us in looking at the method of writing contracts and recording them in the records of the Sharia courts in Ottoman Egypt.
