Notes Mosques Square in Alexandria is located in the Anfushi neighborhood, west of Alexandria, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is a site of great archaeological and historical importance in Alexandria. This site includes seven mosques and shrines, namely: Abu Abbas Al-Mursi Mosque, Al-Busiri Mosque, Yaqu Al-Arashi Mosque, Dome of the Set Mandara, Al-Shubakh Ali Abi Al-Fath Mosque, Al-Qadi Muhammad Nasser Al-Din Mosque, in addition to the Dome of the Fourteen Muhammad. The importance of the site comes because although these mosques are modern in their construction, the shrines in them belong to scholars and sheikhs who settled in Alexandria during the Mamluk era. The most famous of these sheikhs are: Abu Abbas Al-Mursi, Imam Al-Busiri and Yaqut Al-Arsh. We find that these mosques are distinguished by the diversity of their architectural styles. We find that the Abu Abbas Al-Mursi Mosque is influenced by the Mamluk style, while the Al-Busiri Mosque is distinguished by its script decorations in the Nastaliq script. As for the Yaqut Al-Arsh Mosque, it is a modern copy of the Abu Abbas Al-Morsi Mosque, although it is distinguished by its multiple domes. Despite this great importance of the square, there is no comprehensive study explaining the historical and archaeological background of the mosque square. Therefore, the aim of this study was to clarify the archaeological and historical importance of the field, as well as to present the problems facing this archaeological site. Maidan el Masajid is located at el-Anfoushy district in Alexandria overlooking the Mediterranean. it's a square of both historical and touristic importance; It includes seven mosques and mausoleums which are: the mosque of Abu el Abbas el-Morsy, the mausoleum of el-set Mandara, and the mosque of el Bousery, the mosque of el sheikh Ali Abu-el Fath, the mosque of el sheikh Muhamed Naser el-din and the mausoleum of fourteen Muhameds. Each of these monuments is distinguished with its artistic and architectural style. as the mosque of Abu el-Abbas built by the Italian architect Mario Rossi to evoke the Mamluk architectural style while the mosque of el-Bousseri is rich with ottoman decorative elements and parts of the lyrics of ell-imam el Bousseri known as “Nahg el-Bourda”. So the aim of the study is to shed the light to the historical background of the site and to discuss the obstacles facing this important touristic site.
