Notes
This study deals with “the cholera epidemic in Medina during the period from Rajab 1288 AH/October 1871 AD to Dhul-Hijjah 1326 AH/January 1909 AD.” The subject of the study was chosen because of the importance of the cholera epidemic in the modern history of Hijaz and its multiple repercussions on Medina. This study consists of an introduction, a preface, four sections, a conclusion, and appendices. The introduction specializes in talking about the geography of Medina and its modern history, while the first section came to explain what the health conditions of Hejaz were like in the middle of the thirteenth century AH / nineteenth century AD. Then the second section came to explain how the cholera epidemic reached Medina. The third section dealt with the effects of this epidemic on Medina at all levels, and finally the last section touched on the measures taken by the Ottoman Empire to confront the cholera epidemic in Medina. In turn, the conclusion highlighted the most important points included in the study.
