Notes Sharif Hussein bin Ali (1334 AH / 1916 AD - 1343 AH / 1925 AD) is considered one of the most important influential figures in the history of the Arabs in the modern era, and one of those who called for the renaissance of the Arabian Peninsula in the political, administrative, military, economic, social and other aspects. In this research, we will discuss the coins of Sharif Hussein bin Ali, which are of great importance because they are the first coins for an independent Arab state in the country of Hijaz, in addition to the establishment of the first minting house for Hashemite Arab coins in Mecca, which was distinguished by its technical and administrative departments, where gold, silver, and copper coins were minted in the name of Sharif Hussein. The coins of Sharif Hussein can be divided into several sections, in which I will discuss the coins in circulation in the Hijaz during the period of Sharif Hussein, including foreign, Ottoman and Egyptian coins, in addition to a comprehensive study of the types of coins minted by Sharif Hussein in his name and rare titles and analyzing them. It varied between gold, silver, and copper coins. I will study these coins, which had a major impact on the political and economic aspects on the internal and external arena, in addition to studying the sections of the Hashemite Arab coinage house that was established by Sharif Hussein bin Ali in Mecca to mint his coins. I will conclude the research by studying the monetary values of Sharif Hussein bin Ali’s coins. In the research, I relied on a group of important historical sources and documents contemporary with the minting of coins, perhaps the most important of which are the documents of the Arabian Peninsula in the British archives, and the newspapers Al-Qibla and Al-Falah, which were the mouthpiece of the Hashemite Arab government, from which we generated all the data on the coins of Sharif Hussein bin Ali, and in this research we will shed light in more detail, God willing.
