Notes Mosque, market and bath constitute the three basic spaces among the Ottoman/Islamic city elements. Although other elements were later added to the cities formed around the marketplaces where products brought from the city hinterland were exchanged, the bathhouse for cleaning, and the mosque where Friday prayers were performed, these three basic spaces/structures preserved their characteristics of being the basic spaces of the city other than the neighborhoods. Commercial spaces are where production goods and other products that are not tied to land are marketed and are one of the most important elements of a settlement being considered a city. In this study, the marketplaces, bazaars and inns, which are the commercial spaces of the city of Siverek, which contains the characteristics of a classical Ottoman/Islamic city, are revealed in the light of the data in the Siverek Sharia Registers, dated to the second half of the 19th century.
