This research studies the endowment replacement system in the city of Nablus during the period of Egyptian rule 1831-1840 AD. This period is considered among the important historical periods in the history of the Levant in general due to Muhammad Ali Pasha’s control over it after wresting it from Ottoman sovereignty. The study initially reviewed the concept of replacement, then presented the opinions of the jurists of the four schools of thought regarding it, explained the justifications for replacement and the types of properties replaced, and finally analyzed the replacement contracts contained in the Sharia registry by distributing the contracts according to social categories and the properties replaced, whether partial, total, or shared. The study relied mainly on the Sharia records of the Nablus Sharia Court as the main source, which are preserved in the Nablus Sharia Court. A photocopy of it is available and preserved at the Center for Documents, Manuscripts and Levant Studies at the University of Jordan. Sharia record No. 9 was the most important record that the researcher benefited from. It covers the period between 1244 AH / 1828 AD - 1254 AH / 1838 AD. I also went to a number of jurisprudential sources to know the opinions of jurists on the issue of substitution.
