Notes	This paper studies and analyzes administrative institutions in regional cities and major villages, explaining their role and architectural planning. The study focuses on one of the institutions of the Egyptian countryside, an administrative unit that was called “Dar El Shad.” Through archival documents, the paper attempts to trace this institution, the roles it played, its functions, and its connection to agricultural land, and to explain its architectural units through what the texts of documents have made available to us in the Ottoman era. It also attempts to identify the layout of this institution through its architectural visualization based on what was reported about it in the texts of various documents. Then it publishes four previously unpublished documents explaining details about the definition of Al-Shad, then defining Dar Al-Shad functionally and architecturally, as well as a fifth document about the Princes’ Terrace in Mansoura, and it has also been republished. Lines from previously published documents that we deemed necessary to include because they contain important details about the topic, serve the idea of the research, and confirm its direction.
