Notes Skanderbeg, the national hero of Albania, appears before us as a person who was well acquainted with Eastern culture by receiving a good education during his time in the Ottoman Empire, and with Western culture as a result of the warm relations he established with Western states after he started a rebellion against the Ottoman Empire. Although he had risen to certain positions in the Ottoman Empire, over time, some of his requests were rejected and some privileges granted to him were taken away, so he rebelled in order to regain the regions where his father dominated. Different opinions have been put forward that the main reason behind Skanderbeg's rebellion against the Ottoman Empire was related to his desire to return to his homeland, Albania, his personal interests and his Christian faith. Although he converted to the Christian faith after his rebellion against the Ottoman Empire and established close relations with the Papacy, which was the greatest enemy of the Ottoman Empire at the time, and received financial and military aid, it is understood that his rebellions were not religious in origin.
