Notes The history and architecture of the mosques and mosques of the city of Jeddah did not receive sufficient attention, whether by historians or by travelers who visited and wrote down their observations about its construction and buildings. Even the writings of modern historians did not satisfy researchers about the history and architecture of these important buildings, especially if we take into account an important fact, which is that these mosques underwent a series of reconstructions and renovations over different periods of time, most of which were not accurately documented, which made researching them one of the most important matters. Difficult buildings that require the necessity of studying them within their temporal and spatial context, and comparing them with their contemporary and previous counterparts, in order to reach the closest perception of their architecture and what it was like at the time of its construction. This research is concerned with studying the Hanafi Mosque and its attached palace, “a historical and cultural study”, and explaining the importance of the mosque in the construction of the city of Jeddah throughout the ages, and studying and determining its ancient and modern location, its original name, the date of its construction, its origin, and the most important reconstructions and additions that were made to the mosque throughout the historical eras from its inception until today, as well as the architecture of the mosque and its most important architectural components and architectural units, including the King Abdulaziz Chapel attached to it, as well as the elements it contains. Artistic, the research is unique in publishing a group of Ottoman documents related to the mosque for the first time.
