During periods of persecution in the early eras, which made them practice their faiths in a secret way and used symbolism for this, some of the symbols that appeared in manuscript depictions in the period from the seventeenth century AD to the nineteenth century AD were discussed, and important results were reached in this research, including the use of various decorations, whether geometric or botanical, or drawings of birds and animals, with their different symbolic meaning, and that the religious factor is the primary driver in the use of decorative elements, as well as the Coptic artist’s innovation of new decorative forms in the beginnings of the manuscripts.
