Notes
Foundation means that people donate all or part of their movable or immovable property for the sake of Allah, with a sense of solidarity and cooperation. Foundations, which have existed since the early period of Islam, developed in the Muslim Turkish states and took on the characteristics of an institution, and with the formation of the Ottoman State, they reached the peak of evolution and gained the identity of an institution that shapes society socially, economically and culturally. In addition, foundations shed light on the darkness of the past by facilitating the emergence of many works in the Ottoman Empire. Leblebici Sarı es-Seyyid el-Ḥāc Aḥmed Ağa Foundation represents the continuation of this understanding. As a matter of fact, one of the foundation works created with this principle is the Leblebici Sarı es-Seyyid el-Ḥāc Aḥmed Ağa Mosque and madrasah, built in Afyonkarahisar in the mid-19th century. According to archival records, this structure is characterized by a central mosque surrounded by a madrasa and associated student cells, following the established norms of classical architecture. However, many restorations have been carried out in this group of buildings due to fires, wars and natural disasters that occurred on different dates. Although Leblebici Sarı es-Seyyid el-Ḥāc Aḥmed Ağa Mosque is known as Yoncaaltı Mosque today, it was recorded as Tevfikiye Mosque in the foundation deed dated 10 September 1840. In this study; It is aimed to discuss the services provided by the Leblebici Sarı es-Seyyid el-Ḥāc Aḥmed Ağa foundation, who benefits from the foundation, the income and expenses of the foundation, officials and their fees, and the procedures and conditions in the foundation.
