The research deals with the personality of the teacher Daoud Saliwa, the owner of the franchise and founder of the Sada Babel Al-Baghdad newspaper, who was considered one of the elite educated figures in Iraq at that time through his extensive culture and his writings in the field of politics, history, literature and general culture. He worked to publish his newspaper after the political changes that occurred in the Ottoman Empire after the Revolution of Union and Progress against the rule of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, which raised the slogans of freedom and equality. This newspaper was founded in Baghdad in 1909 AD and continued to be published on a weekly basis. For a period of six years until the year 1914 AD, the Ottoman authorities in Baghdad closed it and the rest of the local newspapers after the outbreak of World War I. This newspaper published detailed news of the events that were occurring at that time, and it also published the laws and instructions issued by the Ottoman authorities, as well as publishing details related to the local, regional, and international events that were occurring at that time, and thus it is considered an important source for the modern history of Iraq, the neighboring regions, and the world.
