Omar Seif al-Din, one of the pioneers of national literature and the founder of the modern Turkish short story, gained importance and a well-deserved position in writing Turkish stories in the modern era. In some of his short stories, he depicted the social life of the Turks, and criticized some of the prevailing customs of the time period in which he lived. He also reflected in his historical stories Ottoman heroism, virtue, and the strength of faith, and mixed his nationalist ideas with historical events. The story that is the subject of the study is one of these historical stories through which he deals with the life of one of the Ottoman heroes since he was raised in the Ottoman Navy to love his homeland, provide for it, and sacrifice for its sake everything a person possesses and his most precious things, until he fell into captivity and lived his humiliation and humiliation, and held on to his hope of being liberated at the hands of his country’s fleet, and this was achieved after forty years, to show the strength of his faith and his close connection to his homeland. The elements of artistic structure were present in the story under study, including title, content, characters, narration, dialogue, artistic plot, time and place, which helped in the success of the story.
