This research examines Russia's foreign policy toward European countries during the period between 1855-1871. The first chapter dealt with the nature of the foreign policy pursued by Russia in order to reach a settlement to stop the Crimean war in which Britain, France and Piedmont joined the Ottoman Empire against Russia. The second chapter dealt with Russia's position on Piedmont's policy of unity (1867-1861). The third chapter deals with Russia's policy towards the Polish uprising (1863-1865). The fourth chapter explains Russia's policy toward the efforts of Russia to achieve German unity (1866-1871).
