Notes In this article, family structure, marital relations and the situation of women in the Ottoman period will be discussed. There are almost no serious historical and sociological studies on the subject. However, it seems that this issue is partially addressed in studies on women in Türkiye. However, most of these studies are based on general characters. Generally, the issue was approached in the context of the rights given to women with the Republic, and the determinations about the Ottoman period remained ideological rather than scientific. Rather than a historical study based on documents, this article aims to provide general information about the family structure, marital relations and the situation of women in the Ottoman period.
