Notes Architectural heritage is an important part of the overall cultural heritage, as architectural heritage plays a major role in preserving the identity and authenticity of the nation. Ottoman architecture is considered the culmination of the development of Islamic architecture. What contributed to the spread of Ottoman architecture in many regions was the strength of the Ottoman Empire and its success in extending its influence to lands on the three continents. Algeria was among the most important countries that imposed its control over it from the Islamic Maghreb. The Ottoman rule in Algeria extended for nearly three centuries (1514 to 1830), corresponding to (920-1245 AH). The Ottomans brought about development in the art of Islamic architecture in Algeria through the construction of many architectural buildings of an Islamic geometric character with their beautiful designs. The Ketchaoua Mosque in the city of Algiers, near the Kasbah district, is an icon of Islamic architecture and culture in Algeria, with its distinctive architectural style and its religious and scientific role. The mosque was targeted by the French occupation, as the French converted it into a church and modified some of its urban aspects, such as placing a tower in its south to carry the bell, known as the bell tower. They also removed some of its Islamic urban features or sought to obliterate them, but the mosque quickly regained its identity after the liberation, returning to be a beacon and an important landmark for Algeria and Islamic architecture, despite all the attempts at destruction to which it was exposed. Today, this mosque can be the focus of a very active tourist movement that achieves sustainable development. This research follows three main paths: research into the historical development of this mosque through its Ottoman, French, and contemporary stages. The second path is an urban one that follows the Islamic architectural aspect of the mosque and its unique aesthetic advantages. The third path aims to draw attention to the possibilities that this mosque can provide today to achieve sustainable development by employing this unique architectural monument for tourism goals. Its ancient history: Ottoman, French, and Islamic, can make it a point of attraction for large numbers of tourists with interests. And different approaches. The research seeks to highlight the importance of taking care of the mosque and its area for multiple purposes, including what is related to the material aspect, including what is related to the cultural aspect and achieving intellectual communication with the tourist, and the other aspect is the field that this mosque can provide in terms of studying Islamic architecture to enrich our knowledge about the subject, based on this rare urban work. Research problem: How can sustainable tourism development be achieved by promoting the aesthetic architecture of the Ketchawa Mosque. Research objective: to highlight how to preserve the Ottoman urban heritage in Algeria. Among them is the Ketchawa Mosque and its adoption as a center for Algerian tourism. The aim of the research paper is to illuminate the ancient historical aspects of the Algerian cultural heritage. Algeria is full of countless historical monuments and artistic monuments that have been included in the World Heritage List.
