Palestine is the only country in the Middle East does not have legislations which protecting the intellectual property rights. Note however that there are sporadic laws applied in Palestine, as the Ottoman in 1910 related to copyright law and the Jordanian trademark and patent law in 1953. In 1995 the Palestinian Authority has approved some legislation in the field of private law, such as civil and commercial law, but without priority to the intellectual property legislation. Indeed, the term of intellectual property is not popular among Palestinian legislators; add there are a few experts in this field. The purpose of this study is to make an objective comparison between the patentable subject matter in Palestine and Jordanian law in order to extract the similarities and differences to establish basic principles for new Palestinian Law. The Jordanian law is selected as it in general the law that applied in Palestine.
